Behind the Scenes[]
Staples originally wanted to illustrate a follow-up to Judgement on Gotham but DC Comics had passed on the option. Staples approached John Wagner, telling him he wanted to draw a (serious) Judge Death story, but Wagner declined, as he finds horror more difficult to write than humour. Following regular follow-up emails and sight of a commission that Greg had painted, Wagner eventually came up with an idea. It took Staples two years to paint the 66 pages of Dark Justice[1].
