The Russians have developed a weapon that can knock out western satellites at will. Probe's assistance is enlisted by the British and American Air Forces to investigate, but without Sharpe's approval.

Synopsis[]

Part One[]

An American military satellite gets destroyed by a mystery weapon. Probe is lured out to a rendezvous in a field, where he is picked up by an RAF helicopter. From there he is taken to a nearby RAF base where he meets with a combined team from the USAF, the RAF and NASA. Sharpe gets word of the plan and plants his own people on board the plane that Probe and his contact are using to fly to California. Probe overpowers them by smashing a window and the plane continues to its original destination. M.A.C.H.1 is sent up into space to the wreckage of the satellite and finds a Russian space capsule and the weapon aimed right at him.[1]

Part Two[]

Probe's craft is detroyed, but he escapes in his space-suit, although mission control believe him to be dead. He forces his way on board the Russian capsule and knocks the death ray out of orbit to fall back to Earth. He discovers that the craft he is on is being controlled remotely to return to Russia. Meanwhile, America has had its nuclear arsenal on stand-by during the crisis. They stand them down, but one ship doesn't get the message and launches.[2]

Part Three[]

The Russian capsule lands back at the Russian Death Ray HQ but Probe runs for the hills before they can catch him. He witnesses them testing another Death Ray based on land. He smuggles his way back into the compound and uses the Death Ray to destroy it, racing for the hills again before the Ray itself explodes. He sees the American missile heading for its target and manages to jump aboard. He reprograms it in flight and it turns back to sea, carrying Probe to safety. Back in London, Sharpe reprimands him but is unable to take any official action as the mission had been so successful.[3]
