Elongates

Elongates were the original inhabitants of Nereid. They were friendly to colonising humans from Earth and were sixty feet tall. They had metal hands and spiral-necks which resulted in a 'huss', a thin whistling sound created by a column of gas passing between upper plates of the spirals.
