The E.U. passed a resolution in 2076 to unify the surviving European cities into one political bloc, thus creating Euro-City[1], also known as Méga-Europe[2] or Euro-Cit. Its borders lasted until at least the mid-22nd century.
Separatist factions sprung up soon afterwards, initially with peaceful protests but escalating to bombings, terror campaigns and the kidnap of the Mega-City One ambassador in 2089[2].
Up to 2100, Euro-City's criminal underworld was under the control of three factions: La Reine Rouge[3]; Die Weiss Russe[3] and Sev Gruber and the The Gruber Combine[4]. After actions from Oberon in this year la Reine Rouge was in sole control[4].
Pieter Schwarz's family came from Euro-Cit[5].
