The character is based upon what was the present day Charles, Prince of Wales, though the real-life person had expressed a desire to be known by the regnal name George VII rather than Charles III, to avoid coronations with previous incumbents of that name. Upon the death of their mother, on Thursday 8th September, 2022, Charles announced they would be known as King Charles III.
