Mega-City Confidential was a Judge Dredd comic story originally published in 2000 AD. It consisted of five parts, serialised between Progs 1874 and 1878.

Summary[]

Judge Dredd was called in by Section 7 Chief Styler to investigate one of their evaluators, Erika Easterhouse, who has disappeared with a data-slug containing information about Section 7's incredibly invasive surveillance of Mega-City One citizens.

Easterhouse attempts to leak the information to Max Blixen, host of the vid show Mega-City Confidential. But, wary of incurring the wrath of the Justice Department, Blixen has long-since sold out to the Judges. Easterhouse is captured, but before meeting Blixen she had sent him a copy of the data.

Blixen decides to try and do the right thing by his old values, and flees Mega-City One with his partner Zinzan Moys. Knowing that if he put out this information in Mega-City One he would be destroyed by the Judges, he heads to Ciudad Barranquilla. He televises the story that after the havoc of the Chaos Bug, as blocks were rebuilt they included invasive surveillance devices that tracked all aspects of citizen life, fed it into a computer at Section 7 and resulted in mass arrests.

Riots break out in Mega-City One, and Chief Judge Hershey is forced to end the overreach of Section 7. However, Moys is arrested by the Justice Department, and Blixen is found dead in Ciudad Barranquilla.
