Ron Smith (full name Ronald George Smith) was a British comic artist, born in 1924.
He was a pilot with the Empire Flying Training Programme during the Second World War, and flew Spitfires. After the war, in 1947, he joined the Gaumont British animation studio, going on to work for Amalgamated Press in 1949.
In 1963 he travelled to South Africa on a mission by The Scotsman newspaper to find a member of an anti-apartheid group.
He retired in the 1990s, though made an appearance at a signing in 2013.
