Behind the Scenes[]
Ian Edginton was inspired by characters from his childhood such as The Spider and The Black Max to write a story where the villain was the hero. Bill Sykes, Fagin, Arthur Daley and Moriarty also influenced Edginton.
Visually, Stickleback is very loosely based on the Child Catcher from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Joel Grey from Cabaret, Brick Top in Snatch, Alec Guinness' Fagin and Beetlejuice[2].
