Synopsis
Probe and Sharpe are attending a demonstration of a US secret weapon that uses a focussed laser beam to slice through metal objects. The weapon is hijecked by eastern agents and attacks the visiting generals. Probe saves Sharpe and the general in charge, then goes after the tank himself. First he strips to his underwear to remove any metal on his person (What about the printed circuits embedded in his brain? Ed.). He retakes the tank and returns it.[4].
